Rank CVs against a job description, in your browser
Paste the ad, drop in the CVs, and read the ranked list with the evidence next to each name. Nothing is uploaded.
The problem: a pile of CVs and one afternoon
A good job ad brings in a lot of CVs. Say two hundred. Reading one CV properly, against the ad, takes about fifteen minutes. Two hundred of those is fifty hours, more than a working week, before a single phone call. So most of us skim, and skimming is where the wrong people get through and the right people get missed. Shortlane does the first read for you, so the fifteen minutes go to the people worth them.
How does it work?
- Paste the job ad. Shortlane pulls the requirements out of it: the skills, the tools, the years, the languages. You can edit that list before you rank.
- Drop in the CVs. PDF, Word (.docx) or text, up to 200 per job. Scanned PDFs are read with OCR. English and Danish are both read.
- Read the ranked list. Every name has a score, a band, and the passage from the CV that matched each requirement, so you can check the reasoning instead of trusting a number.
The bands are deliberately simple:
- Strong: the CV covers nearly every requirement in the ad.
- Possible: a partial fit; worth a look at the gaps.
- Needs review: little matched, which may mean the wrong candidate or an unusual CV.
There is no "rejected". The tool sorts the pile; the decision is yours, and the footer of every page says so.
Where do the CVs go?
Nowhere. The matching model is downloaded into your browser and runs there. The CVs and the job text are read on your device and are never sent to a server. There is no account, no login, and no upload step. Visits are counted with a cookieless counter; there are no analytics cookies. A paid rank is counted with a licence token only: we do not receive the CV text, a hash of it, the scores, or the file names. The security page describes the automated test that checks this on every build.
What are the limits?
Shortlane ranks the CVs against the ad you wrote. A vague ad ("team player, good communicator") gives a vague ranking, because there is little to match. A specific ad (named tools, years, languages, certificates) gives a sharp one. Read the extracted requirements before you rank, and fix them if the ad was loose.
The result is decision support for a person, not an automated hiring decision. It does not promise anyone an interview and it does not read a CV the way a particular applicant system would. Two matching modes are used: an AI model when it loads, and keyword matching as the fallback. The list tells you which one ran.
What does it cost?
Prices are per job and one-off. Nothing renews and there is no subscription.
| Tier | Price |
|---|---|
| Up to 50 CVs, one job | EUR 10 |
| Up to 100 CVs, one job | EUR 15 |
| Up to 150 CVs, one job | EUR 20 |
| Up to 200 CVs, one job | EUR 25 |
| Recruiter 30-day pass, unlimited jobs, up to 200 CVs each | EUR 30 |
The built-in sample CVs are a free preview, so you can see a ranked list before you pay. Your own CVs need a paid tier. One job can be re-ranked as often as you like for 24 hours in the same browser. No VAT is charged (the seller is not VAT-registered). Payments are processed by Stripe. Full details on the pricing page.
Who is this for?
A recruiter or hiring manager with one role and a folder of CVs, who wants the first pass done in minutes rather than days and wants to see why each person landed where they did. Teams that hire every week should contact us instead.
Open the recruiter tool, paste the ad, drop the CVs. Try the sample CVs first if you want to see the output before paying.
